Soundmagic is chinese company which was all the rage back in 2012 when other chinese IEM makers like KZ were yet to be introduced to the western market.
The E10 were showered with great praise in reviews and as were the budget ES18.
However they are yet to come out of its shadow and have somewhat faded from the hype circles now dominated by KZ, CCA, 7hz, Moondrop and more recently Tangzu and Truthear.
My First experience with Soundmagic was with ES18. As a college student, the access to money was limited and as such it was expected of me to do vast research before spending on luxuries; a habit I still follow today.
The built quality was plasticky but I didn't mind. I was yet to be introduced to better built headphones.
That changed when I got the E10s. At almost double the price of the ES18 (after discounts) this was better sounding in every way. The bass was tighter, the mids were full and the treble was more detailed. The E10S feels far more durable with braided cables and aluminium casing for the speakers.
Now in 2024, Soundmagic is still selling some revision of the aforementioned earphones and have been left in the dust by newer entrants. They have failed to innovate and nobody cares for them anymore.
Update 1: The ES18 died after a service of a year, due to issues with the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Update 2: The E10s died due to cable issues
Update 3: The E50s died due to cable issues
